Magento, one of Blue Acorn’s ecommerce platform partners, today announced the acquisition of RJMetrics. The newly acquired company will be rebranded as Magento Analytics and will act as an add-on service to the more than 250,000 businesses around the world that currently use Magento platforms.
Magento’s acquisition of RJMetrics is a logical investment. According to a Forrester Research report from March of this year, a majority of brands only use a third of the data that they collected. Among those brands, the report shows that only 29 percent are good at translating the results.
“Today’s merchants know that decisions backed by data lead to deeper engagements with their customers, which in turn boosts sales. But since gathering data quickly across an organization and then analyzing it is arduous, a surprising number of marketing decisions are still largely guesswork,” said Kevin Eichelberger, CEO and founder of Blue Acorn. “Magento’s acquisition of RJMetrics makes it easy for marketers, even those without technical skills, to quickly gather, visualize, and analyze data across an organization, reducing business risk and leading to better decisions—and better outcomes. This acquisition will greatly improve the merchant experience.”
Magento Analytics will work alongside other tools that ecommerce teams typically employ, including Google Analytics. More important, the cloud platform is designed so that anyone, regardless of technical background, can use it to obtain ad-hoc analysis and data reports. More specifically, marketers will be able to use the platform to make more informed, data-driven decisions.
“We have seen first-hand the power of combining rich product and customer data from Magento with the business insights that RJMetrics provides,” said Signature Hardware’s Director of Ecommerce, Sean Fisher, a Blue Acorn client. “We’re excited to see how both of these innovative partners combine their offerings to help merchants like us gain a better understanding of our customers and drive data-focused decision-making.”
