Peter Thomas Roth is an icon in skincare and a pioneer of luxury skincare formulas. Inspired by 19th-century Hungarian spa heritage, the products contain 21st-century technologies and ingredients. Ingredients are sourced from all over the world and formulated at the highest percentages possible to provide maximum results for brighter, clearer, younger-looking skin. More than 15 state-of-the-art formulas have garnered sought-after awards from top prestigious beauty magazines. In 2018, the brand came to Blue Acorn to redesign their user experience and launch a site on Salesforce Commerce Cloud.
The Blue Acorn analytics team determined that Peter Thomas Roth was experiencing a significant amount of cross-device usage. Users were visiting the site from mobile and desktop devices nearly equally, but the mobile conversion rate was 60% lower than desktop. Clearly, the mobile experience was an important but overlooked aspect of their online business. User testing subjects who fit their key demographics responded well to more modern branding and visual elements such as large product images, lifestyle and environment photography, a clean aesthetic, and engaging colors.
Given the importance of a clean user experience design and mobile devices, Blue Acorn recommended a modern site that showcased the improved product photography and allowed the team to easily merchandise new products across devices. The site creates a curated, branded experience with a luxurious feel, relevant featured content, prominent how-to’s, and detailed information about skincare concerns. To overcome price concerns, the site includes educational content. To combat compatibility concerns, CMS and product pages provide guidance around products pairings.
